Less than 5 Minute Starburst Smoothie Recipe

Simple Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind EXCEPT coconut)
  • 2 heaping teaspoons coconut milk powder
  • Small handful of frozen blueberries (about 10-12)
  • A few small raspberries (these enhance the fruit flavor)
  • 2 or 3 large frozen strawberries, cut up
  • About 1/2 cup no sugar added vanilla Greek yogurt, 2% milkfat (plain will also work)
  • 6 to 8 pieces of bit sized watermelon chunks
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla protein powder (whey, pea, etc)

Blending together the Starburst Smoothie

Make sure the berries are closest to the blender blades, then add the other ingredients. Start the blender and blend on high speed until incorporated and well mixed. The longer you blend, the frothier it will become. We found that we didn’t even need to scrape the sides of the blender with this recipe.

Note that the texture will be thinner compared to other smoothies. That’s okay! If you prefer a thicker smoothie, you can add more protein powder or cut back a little on the milk.

Pour it into a glass and enjoy! But before you do – you’ll want to take some photos to post to your Instagram for your friends to gush over.

Variations of the Smoothie

In other recipes you can swap milk for water and add the coconut milk powder. In this instance, you cannot. The milk is essential along with the coconut milk powder to create a creamy base. The watermelon chunks are mostly water, so adding additional water will simply water down the smoothie.

You can substitute any milk you’d like, however. Just stay away from coconut milk for obvious reasons.

For the protein powder, you must use vanilla. Try to keep it as basic as possible. We would avoid vanilla with more flavor, such as French vanilla. Adding too much vanilla flavor will throw off the balance of the fruits in the smoothie.

The fruit measurements aren’t very exact, but they help balance the flavor. You can try adding pineapple as well to add another layer of taste.

This Smoothie Looks Like a Fribble. Does It Taste Like One?

No, not really. The Friendly’s Fribble has a different consistency and flavor. We would say this smoothie would be closest to enjoying a watermelon & strawberry Starburst at the same time. Except it won’t get stuck between your teeth.

Oh and of course, this smoothie is actually REALLY good for you.
